Aurora Borealis 9-2024

I recently traveled to Fairbanks alaska for a workshop to photograph the Aurora...the plan is to watch the weather for a clear night during the week stay...the weather was mostly cloudy and at times rainy...this night the sky cleared and around midnight the Aurora appeared...we were at an organized viewpoint with some elevation facing north...the Aurora appeared first near the horizon then was directly overhead stretching east to west...the display was constantly changing in shape and intensity...these photos were taken over a period of two hours...the building you see in some of the photos is a small lodge specifically for the viewing of the Aurora....one of the large bright objects in the starry background is Jupiter and in some of the photos you can see the star cluster Pleades....also visible in some of the photos are streaks of light that might be satellites or meteors...on this night the temperature was in the high 30's...I was told that the best viewing is the middle of winter when the temperature is routinely around minus 30 degrees...A truly amazing spectacle!
