Chena Hot Springs is at the end of the road about 75 miles from Fairbanks...the tall skinny trees are Spruce...the white bark trees with yellow leaves are Birch...we had some periods of sun....if you step off the road or a designated path you quickly discover the ground is very spongy or swampy...not easy to get around in the summer but after everything freezes and with enough snowfall, travel over the top is much easier...many paved roads are wavy and bumpy, side roads are all dirt, must be very challenging in winter months.
