A very nice view from near the lodge at sunrise...very chilly and only a few early risers...when I arrived at Imperial Point I was all alone...a lot of haze in the air...ever wonder why the air smells so good in a Ponderosa Tree forest, you can thank the trees...put your nose in the crease of the puzzle bark on these trees and savor the experience...some say it smells like vanilla, butterscotch or fresh baked cookies...the Aspen leaves quaking(rustling) in the early morning breeze creates a unique sound...there are large areas along the canyon roads that display evidence of past wild fires that clear the pine forest... the first trees to get re-established at this altitude are the Aspens...saw a few wild turkeys on the drive in.
